This component works without user intervention and can perform various text processing tasks using a network of automated software tools. To integrate many kinds of present and possible processing methods into a common framework agent-based methodology is employed.

This information processing subsystem is an extensible framework of automated tools for various tasks like character recognition, document transformation, XML tagging, entity recognition and others.

Agents have access to both storage environments: the Shared Document Storage and the Data Repository. Special interfaces have been developed in order to allow event-based monitoring of these environments without the need to know anything about their actual implementation details. The Environment Management Subsystem (EMS) is responsible for setting up these connections to the environments and accepting event subscriptions from the agents.
