The aim of this component is to provide an easy-to-use Web-based system for storing documents under research. It acts as a shared, on-line storage for researchers and it also provides group cooperation services (document sharing, communication, a flexible permission system etc.).

Users can upload and download documents, automatically synchronize files with client computers and with other cloud-based storage systems. Researchers can form groups, share documents privately and publicly with others.

This system also acts as a command interface for the automated information processing system. Users can mark documents for processing using special-purpose tags. Automated processing components perceive these tags and act accordingly. For example, if a certain text document should be transformed into TEI XML form then the user should attach the “xml:tei” tag to it using the Web interface. The document processing subsystem will automatically start the conversation of the text.

Results of document processing and data analysis can also be placed into this storage making them available for display and download. Notifications from other system components are also displayed in the Shared Document Storage. For example, when the TEI XML processing is done, the results are saved into a file and a message is sent to the user that the conversation is ready and where the outcome is stored.

The Shared Document Storage was implemented using the open source Nextcloud software.
